Indian Candy

I dreamt that the hotel John works at was the house I grew up in in Maine. I was there, working from a laptop for my job. I had to take a break to help Nicky with something in the kitchen and Dad started getting on my case about making sure I am keeping good track of my time. I told him I was and showed him that I was writing everything down in a log. I got upset that he was interfering.

While I was sitting on couch doing work, I noticed an old man and an old lady sitting on the dining table. I thought he looked Arab while she looked Indian, but when I asked, it turns out they are both Indian and married. Her name was Minis or Miris or something like that. They were on their computers. I think they were IMing each other. They were hilarious and very nice.

Then it switches to me working in my current living room and there is a pounding at the side door. I go open the door and Nick's friend Gabriel is there and I start yelling at him about pounding on the door and showed him how to knock like a normal human being. I could see Alvin around the corner of the house playing baseball with Nick. Gabriel said he was just coming by about some chocolate covered mint candy and then Dad comes out and starts yelling at me telling me not to buy any candy from him. I start yelling at Dad telling him Gabriel is not trying to sell anything is looking for candy that belongs to him. I go inside and Mom gives me the candy which is in her room and asks me what is wrong. I tell her Dad is being crazy.

And that was the end of that.

The House that Dogs and Cats Owned

I had a feverish dream last night about trekking through swampish forests to get to a house that was owned by talking cats and dogs, including one really long, silverish-white dog that reminded me of the dragon from The Never-Ending Story. There's another house down the way owned by nefarious rats. In the corner of the one room, there is an ancient television, but it works amazingly, clear picture and everything. Apparently, the VCR below the television was also a way of clocking in to a job.
John was talking to me while I was playing with the VCR, fascinated by it, and told me to follow him. He led me to a room that had not been there before and laying on the bed was a beautiful green gown covered in glitter and an overlay of green mesh, and twigs? He said it was my wedding dress. It was the most beautiful dress I have ever seen in my life.

I woke up at some point to go to the bathroom (I am 2 weeks away from my due date, after all) and when I went back to bed, I dreamt that John, Nicky, and I were at John's work at the hotel, except it was a church, and X was wandering around. I kept trying to say hi to X but all he could say was "yeah." I felt like ringing his neck and asking what his problem was. He was wearing that same maroon shirt he is so famous for. Nicky was running around saying he wanted banana milk. So I bought him some.

Residual

Update on my Strange Events post:

I remembered one of my dreams. John was working in a convenience store for a man named Amash who lived in an apartment above the convenience store. It seemed real strange, like even the convenience store was part apartment, with sliding glass doors leading out to a patio. That's about all I remember from that dream.

Last night I had a wretched dream. I dreamt I was bleeding. Like at the beginning of my period, with the horrible cramps, too. It was so vivid. In the dream I freaked out, thinking I was losing the baby. I woke up, nearly fell trying to get to the bathroom to make sure it was just a dream.

It was.

Strange Events

I dreamt a lot last night. Different dreams. One of them was that it was flooding in America, and we were pulling (literally, with our hands) Mexico and South America up to fit along our Gulf Coast line to keep from losing our Gulf Coast line to the ocean.
It was strange.

There were more dreams, however they have been lost to wakefulness and reality.

Regrettably

I neglected to write down my dream while it was fresh in my mind.

I remember Gina being in it and her husband, but not the husband I know. It was someone else. He was scary and abusive, and unlike in real life where Gina and her husband have been together for decades, the Gina in my dream was confessing to me that her relationships rarely lasted more than three months because of her self-confidence issues.

I also dreamt that John had a job where he was picked up by a truck of men and they went out fixing things, I guess. I went to meet him at the front entrance of the sub division we live in, and there were females in the truck, too. When I asked him why he had not told me that there were females on the job he just laughed and said "because I know how you are and how you would react." We got into an argument about him lying and keeping things from me.

Flooding

In 2006, my son and I were outside on the porch. It was sunny. He was 3 1/2. I remember that day very well, incredibly clear. He raised his arm and swept a pointing finger over the landscape from one side to another and said "it's going to flood. It's all going to flood."

Within a week, I dreamt of it flooding so bad there were boats floating in our yard.

Within a month, it flooded in reality. But not like I thought he meant, and not like in my dream. It rained for a long time, and our road got so flooded that one of only two ways out stayed under water for months.

Last night I have a very vivid dream about being in my old house in Maine (which is there no longer) except it was...sturdier than it had been....reinforced like it had been rebuilt. The house had been good to begin with. An old house. But in my dream, it was like a fortress. I dreamt it rained for a long time. I dreamt Carol and her father were there, along with my parents, John, and Nicky. We were on the second floor which, in the dream, had been renovated from just an attic into an entire second floor.

Out the windows, I could see that the water had risen to about 3 feet, and it was still pouring. Then, for some reason, the chimney began to crumble. I kept saying no no no, and then suddenly the rain stopped. Next thing I know, the water has soaked into the ground and there is no ocean outside. But there is a highway. Which is strange because that house in Maine was on a rural road that got maybe one car passing by every few hours.

Sunflower seeds appear to be working.

Thomas Steinbeck & WalMart

The night before last, while John was at work, I laid in bed reading Thomas Steinbeck's book Down to a Soundless Sea, more specifically, the story titled The Wool Gatherer. It was about a young man working as a ranch hand during the summer to make money, who runs across what Steinbeck describes as a great beast, like a hairy mountain.

Last night, after John & I got out of work, we stopped at WalMart to pick up a few things. While we were in the check out line, I picked up a quirky stuffed toy that was brilliant white with a yellow beak. I immediately thought duck, but John said platypus.

(Note: yesterday I ate sunflower seeds.)

Well, last night, or this morning, I dream that John, Nicky and I were living on a large plot of land, and Nicky was unhappy so we bought a whole bunch of animals. Horses, fish, I believe there may have been a dog.

And a huge, pot-belly pig sized, shaggy brown.......platypus.

I don't remember it looking like a platypus in my dream, now that I am awake, but it was a huge, brown, hairy.

Then Nicky took his new pets to school for something, and John and I went with him but we forgot to bring home the fish.

Then we stopped by Ted's house and he said he was not going to need a ride to work. He lived far, past Castroville in the middle of nowhere in a house that reminded me of the Gregory's house on Tower Rd in Maine.

Well, John and I were on our way back to town to drop me off at work when Ted called to say he was going to need a ride after all. Him and John got into it about something and John told Ted to find another way to work and hung up, but he turned around and went to pick him up anyway.

That was it. It was weird.
